The Bristol Allsorts Choir Welcomes New Members
Published on 5 September 2016.
Originally known as ‘The Barton Hill Choir’, The Bristol Allsorts Choir is a group of people from all walks of life that come together each week because they enjoy singing together.
They are a fun and friendly group, who enjoy laughing just as much as singing and always welcome new members. Anyone can join The Bristol Allsorts, you don’t have to live in Barton Hill and no previous experience of singing is required, just a willingness to join in!
The choir formed in 2014 for Travelling Light’s 30Fest celebrations and has gone from strength to strength, led by musician, music director and composer, Sarah Moody they have performed at the Three Choirs’ Summer Ceilidh, and a variety of pubs, community performances and parties. The choir’s repertoire is guided by the group and features a wide range of styles and genres including everything from classic English and Welsh folk songs to world music and original compositions.
The group runs weekly on Wednesdays during term-time from 7.30-9pm in our studio at Travelling Light. The first meet will be on Wednesday 7th September, with singing sessions running every week, except half term, up until Wednesday 14th December.
The choir have a new Facebook page and website where you can find further info and they’d love to hear from you. Or better still come and join in, the first session is absolutely FREE! After that sessions cost £5 in advance or £6 on the door. The group are particularly excited to hear from new members as they begin choosing music for the Three Choirs’ Christmas Ceildh on 15th December.
The group don’t take themselves too seriously, often meeting for socials outside of singing sessions, so if you’re looking to meet a lovely bunch of people, have a laugh and sing your heart out, The Bristol Allsorts Choir will welcome you with open arms!
